Our commemorative poster for 2025 is an important piece for the museum, celebrating the centennial of our museum’s founder Bob Lund.

The Poster was produced by Jeff Wawrzaszek and has a fascinating story which Jeff explains below.
The magic poster that took 47 years to produce.
In the fall of 1977, I appeared on a Detroit-based television show with Bob Lund and Dan Waldron. I presented a little magic, and Bob and Dan talked about their collection of magic memorabilia soon to be displayed at the new American Museum of Magic in Marshall, MI.
At that same time, I was in college majoring in commercial art and design. One assignment that semester was to design a brochure. As a way of combining two main interests, I called Bob and proposed that I create a possible brochure design for the soon-to-be-opened museum. Bob gave me a personal tour of the museum, and I went home with several ideas.
In those days, Photoshop wasn’t a thing and artwork was usually done on a larger scale, using press type and hand-drawn illustrations. I aced the project design and sent Bob the layout for his consideration. He loved the design and sent a note to say the only thing he would have done differently was to include some things of interest in the windows. I tucked the design away in my portfolio, where it has remained for some 47 years.
In March, Jania Taylor called to ask if I’d consider designing a poster as a centennial tribute to Bob. I agreed and started to work on some designs. As all the photos I received were of a very low resolution, my options were very limited. It occurred to me that if I went back to my renderings from 47 years ago, I could actually make the changes that Bob had suggested. With the help of a little “Photoshop magic,” I’m happy to report that the once-darkened windows displayed in a 47-year-old brochure are now filled with plenty of interesting things, inviting onlookers to come inside and explore a world of magic lovingly preserved by Bob Lund – Guardian of Magic.
This 11” x 17” poster is printed on 100 lb. glossy stock, suitable for framing. It will be available for the first time at Michigan Magic Day (May 16-17), and then through the American Museum of Magic.
